will take place at the
Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre
on the 16th/17th November 2024.
The Emperor of the Battlefield games will take place on both days allowing the opportunity for friendly and competitive play.
550pts of 15mm figures.
Help and advice will be available for new and experienced players.
BRITCON 2024
The Napoleonic ruleset Emperor of the Battlefield will return to BritCon following its first competitive outing at BritCon 2023.
These new Napoleonic rules utilise the same simple and easy to use Control and Morale Test mechanisms as the well proven King of the Battlefield Eighteenth Century wargame rules. KotB was first published in 2003.
Please do join us for a friendly gathering of like-minded wargamers.
– The scale of figures being used this weekend is 15/18mm.
– Each normal sized unit of infantry or cavalry has two 40x30mm stands.
– Large units have three stands.
– Artillery batteries are depicted by two 40x40mm gun stands plus two limber team stands.
– Generals are mounted on 40mm rounds, but other options will not be turned away. The quality of their staff can be shown by varying the number of figures or by stickers (provided).
Armies for this competition may be chosen from any European nation.
Please choose forces to represent historical organisations from the period 1792 to 1815.
– The size of force will be about the size of a Corps.
– Most players have a C-in-C and three or four sub generals commanding Divisions or Brigades.
– An excel file will be made available to competitors to aid their choice.
Equipment needed. These items will be available for competition use if needed.
– A measuring stick marked in 40mm units.
– One blue d10, one white d8 and one red d6. I’m fussy and it keeps it simple.
– Casualty markers.
Timings
– On the Friday night from 18.30 onwards we will be staging some friendly “Q&A” participation games. This will be a good opportunity to answer your questions and to ensure we all have the same understanding of these new rules.

Prizes will be offered, but the acclamation of your peers will be worth far more.

Emperor of the Battlefield
gives you good reason to use historic tactics in your
games because they work. Napoleonic warfare means combined arms to me. I need to see
those columns moving up, the lines giving fire, and the reactions to determined cavalry. In
this game you pick your target priorities, not me.
They are your guns, sir, not mine.
Emperor of the Battlefield
has the Control Test and the Morale Test at its heart.
The Control Test deals with the passage of orders within the unit and measures its ability to

charge, react and change formation. The Morale Test is for any firing or close combat aimed
at your unit.
So, you roll to control and the enemy rolls to react.
Emperor of the Battlefield
uses an alternate bound sequence with reaction point
options and choices. This makes it suitable for single or multiplayer games where each
player can control a full Corps if they wish. In general, all troops move as you command.
Warfare 2024 competition notes and adjustments
Each player will command a Corps sized force freely chosen within the percentages
recommended in Emperor of the Battlefield rules on page 64 up to a maximum of 550pts.
You pick the doctrine that applies to your chosen force. As your units will have been
marching towards the enemy for the last few days the relative positions of your commands
will be set before you see the battlefield.
Although the section on orders is simple this option will not be used in this competition.
The set up and deployment will be amended for this competition and its table size.
